Joie de Vivre and Je Ne Sais Quois
We’ve had several pairs of nic’s throughout the ages and I’m sitting here wondering why I didn’t ever think about this before. We’re quite funny, when I type out all the nic’s and think of when and where we used them. lolol
Dotty’s nicname: Joie de Vivre (Joy of life)
My nickname: Je Ne Sais Quois (I don’t know what)
The first word of each of these phrases sound remarkably like our real names. I can remember when she lived in Waterford and we’d go out to Meijer and come back to her apartment and call each other Joie and Je ne all afternoon. Those WERE NOT the days, but we still had some fun.
Dotty: Len Lester
Me: Jun Viev or Viev a Vive
This was from a SNL skit when we were in high school.
Dotty: Pinky
Me: Big Toe
Don’t know where this one came from, but we’d give each other high-5’s with our feet while one was on the sofa and one was on the floor. Borne out of laziness, we’d touch toes and call it good.
Dotty: Secret Agent X-9
Me: Secret Agent X-10
Halloween party when we worked at Mc D’s in high school or college… we had sweatshirts made up that said “Identical twins are a freak of nature” on the front and on the back, our nic’s. I don’t remember why.
Dotty: Joj
Me: Jenj
Obvious.
Dotty: Little Big Sis
Me: Big Little Sis
Cuz I’m the little sister age-wise, but I’m taller by an inch or inch and a half.
OK I can’t think of anymore good ones right now.
I LOVE YOU DOTTY!

Hey Jayleigh..this is such a cute, lighthearted post!! I love it! My brother is the “younger brother” BUT he’s also 1 foot taller than me (yes, I’m short) so I always referred to him as my “bigger younger brother!” Anyway, nicknames are fun–I have only had a few…most everyone I work with calls me “Jules,” some call me by my REAL name–you know the one you only get called if you’re in trouble as a kid–Julianne. Then there’s the sweet kid names my father called me..My daughter, Elizabeth is the one with multiple nicknames–muscrat (don’t ask me why her friends call her that)..then there’s lizzard, liz, beth, Lizzy (by her younger cousins) and way too many to name. Hope all is going well and things are thawing out up there…
