A Series of Blows

Last night, our neighbor came over and expressed in a genuinely caring and friendly-like way, that her husband had had quite enough of Rob’s dog pooping in their yard. That bit is quite interesting, since as the neighbor also stated, “I call your dogs over here, and give them treats and snuggle and play with them. So whose fault IS it really?” I couldn’t be mad at her. She’s right.

But what ticked me off is that I’ve seen their own dog pooping in their back yard. And I really though we’d made sure that our doggie had behaved himself, especially in recent weeks.

Whatever, though. I won’t go on about it… it just stings a little when you are called out and corrected. Kind of like when we sin and God corrects us. It’s never fun, but if he doesn’t correct us, then He’s not our Father, and we’re not His children. So be glad of the correction, right?

Then just as we got home from church in the last hour, I received word that the Bible Study I have with “My Ladies” each week, has been changed to a day and time where I cannot make it.

See, I’ve been looking to be released from that study for months now, but I didn’t have a reason to quit. I wanted out because my schedule is so busy. And now I’m out, and I’m sitting here with a little bit of hurt feelings at being forgotten last week when I didn’t want to go anyway… and being left out this week.

My mind so wants to fly to last Wednesday when one of the ladies didn’t want to talk about the scheduling of our Bible Study with me, and very quickly said, “Oh, we’ll decide and then let you know.” My mind… no! The evil one wants to take me to the place where everyone is tired of my opinions and doesn’t want to be around me. The evil one tries to lead me by the hand into a huge pity party.

But I’m not going.

The ladies are all old. It’s quite possible they didn’t remember that my day off is on Wednesday and not on Tuesday. It’s quite PROBABLE that they’re all busy on Wednesday, and heading into the fall, they have so many things to do that they just can’t fit in a Wednesday Bible Study anymore. And besides, *I* was the one who stopped it being on Thursday mornings, because of my Piano Lesson.

The evil one has been trying to deal me a series of blows this weekend, and I’m telling you I am not receiving them. I know how to keep better track of my dog. I am also now free to begin a Bible Study at our new church. And furthermore, I am going to have some time for Rob and me.

So there!

EDIT: It’s now almost 3:30. I decided to return Joey’s call from earlier and found out that the time has been changed to 2 PM on WEDNESDAY, not on Tuesday. So I’m totally and completely in. Joey was horrified that she’d told me the wrong time, and made such a huge deal about still having the study at a time that would work with my schedule. I love that I consciously chose not to accuse my friends, so then when I found out that they weren’t trying to get rid of me, I didn’t have to feel guilty for being angry with them.
God is soooooooo good!

does your dog have a blog?
you could title it something like:
“Going where I should not go”

i looked you up on your map, zoomed in on the backyard in question, and saw no evidence of dog poop.

I’m glad you made the call and got the good news about meeting time. We live in an area where dogs are not allowed to be out without a leash, so when I walk Smokey I also carry the scooping stuff. I think most dogs do prefer to go in someone else’s yard rather than their own ( and who can blame them) but it does fall to us to either not let it happen or clean up after the little darlins when it does!

We live in the country on 1.5 acres. Our neighbor’s dog poops in our yard regularly and we don’t care. Our dogs actually don’t go into their yard except when the wife CALLS them over, and as soon as we see they’re gone, we go over and get them. The one time that Rob’s dog actually did poop in their yard by the door, we went over with a shovel and took care of it immediately.

My original point was that we keep good track of our dogs, and the neighbors’ dog poops in its own yard.

    Hold on tightly, dear friend.

His timing is perfect. His wisdom is beyond ours. And his grace and mercy is always sufficient.

I wish I knew what He had planned for you - but as far as the details go, I’m clueless. I do know that it is greatness, peace and abundant blessings. Keep walking in faith, and in expectancy. You are truly remarkable and one strong chickadee.

    Prayers flying!

    Lots of love.
