V is for Victory!

V is for Victory

V is for Victory! Sing it out! It’s a glorious word!V is for Victory! It is ours through Christ our Lord! Some days may be dark and drear; In Christ the Way is Clear! For we have Victory!Victory in Christ our Lord!

When I was a child at church in Branton, we sang that song. I can’t remember if it was in Church or during Sunday school, but it was in a march tempo. I always envisioned a band.jpgHeavenly Marching Band, swinging their horns and high-stepping out in front of the church, waving flags and marching us all up to Heaven.

It was a sweet image for a little kid to have in her head, but I’m singing the song loud and proud tonight!

Weekend Girl

For the past 8+ years, I have worked every other weekend. I cannot complain, because in all of my other jobs, I had to work every single weekend unless I cajoled and harangued someone into taking a weekend here and there for me.

This afternoon, my boss (my wonderful boss!) took me to the side and asked if I’d like to start working two Wednesdays per month. Now, Wednesdays are my day off, but I agreed happily, because I hoped I knew what was coming next.

Finally she said it, “I want to have you on two Wednesdays per month and then you’ll only have to work 1 Saturday per month.” She didn’t say it, but that includes no Sundays.

Remember a while back when I was so upset about having to work Sundays again? Well I have to work THIS Sunday, but that makes only TWO that I have worked in the past year. The past YEAR!

Remember how God told me to hold my tongue and do whatever she asked of me, and to say “yes ma’am and no ma’am” and not to pout or yell about my schedule?

Well today was the payoff. I persevered. I stood up under pressure. When the going got rough, I didn’t complain, because I knew God wouldn’t let me down.

You know, it seems so simple writing it on my computer, but seriously, 9 years of every other weekend. That’s 26 weekends per year, times 9. I have worked approximately 234 weekends just at this current job!!!!!

I am in a state of giddy and thankful relief.

Praise God for all his blessings, great and small!
