Sissy

My sister Dotty, my joie de vivre is leaving for home in Sacramento this morning after two really good weeks’ visit. I shall miss her greatly, but hopefully have plans to see her in a few months. Yay!

Everything

My dear friend Jen sent this to me last week and I didn’t have time to watch it until today. Now I’m sitting here in complete awe and wonder. It’s so true. That’s all I’m saying.

OK and I’m crying, too.
Love you all.
Merry Christmas!

The Magazine Family

I work out at a local gym for ladies only. You know the one. It’s 2 miles from here and I drive by it on my way to and from work. The former owners have a large family, and their middle child had some sort of brain injury on the day of his High School [...]

Three Days On

Three days on. One day off. One day on. One day off.
Start over again.
The second day off is Christmas.
I can’t begin to say how wonderfully lovely the atmosphere has been lately at work. I mean that with my whole heart; no sarcasm here. It’s been stressful because of the photolab not working, and stressful because [...]

Just One Tonight

One more from my book at Dailylit.com . I get three posts per week  and I’m just loving it. The rhythym of this one captivated me.
 THE OWL AND THE PUSSY-CAT.
“The Owl and the Pussy-Cat,” by Edward Lear (1812-88), is placed here
because I once found that a timid child was much strengthened and
developed by learning it. [...]

Singing Jayleigh

I decided back in September that I’d sing and play a song for Christmas at Church. Apparently I posted O Come O Come Emmanuel a year ago in anticipation of Christmas. And I’m reposting this year, with the decided difference that it’s ME playing and singing.
It’s rough, and I was in my Pajamas, so please [...]

Two Poems

I’ve recently begun a new book at DailyLit. It’s called Poems Every Child Should Know, by various authors. I’ve selected two to share tonight:
 THE BABY.
I found “The Baby” in Stedman’s “Anthology.” It is placed in this
volume by permission of the poet, Jeremiah Eames Rankin, of Cleveland
(1828-), because it captured the heart of a ten-year-old boy [...]

14-Year-Olds

At Best Buy, apparently they only hire 14-year-olds anymore. Or maybe it’s that I’ll be 35 next month and all the college kids working at Best Buy are looking awfully young to me.
I was supposed to have yesterday off for Vacation, to get my cards and shopping finished. But the Photo Lab malfunctioned and I [...]

Jack the Quack

Jack the Quack
When I was a kid, we’d go to a Chiropractor whose first name was Jack. My dad always called him “Jack the Quack,” even though we all went to him for treatments and agreed that he was an adequate chiropractor.
See, our family isn’t of the idea that Chiropractic will cure every ill, but that [...]

Everybody Party Party!!!

I’m up and awake. It’s nearly midnight and I am on a mission.
My mom is retiring at the end of this month and I, LIKE A SILLY GOOSE, am throwing her a party the day before she would have had to go back to work, were she not retiring. That means January 5 is the [...]

Psychotic Break

I only wish that the ramp-up to Holidays with my family was a Psychotic Break.
The facts are quite simple:

My brother is a class-A Jerk.
My sister isn’t willing to help with making plans because she’s “in school and has a final coming up.”
I, on the other hand, need to “buck up! You  just have a job. You should quit [...]

Bangers and Mash

Rob purchased some sausages from the store last week. The front of the package read, “Classic British-style Bangers.” Of course this made us both laugh, and then, of couse, Rob’s mind went straight to the gutter. (OK mine went to the gutter too!)
Anyhoo… I have read quite enough British-themed novels that I know about Bangers and [...]
