Everybody Party Party!!!

I’m up and awake. It’s nearly midnight and I am on a mission.

My mom is retiring at the end of this month and I, LIKE A SILLY GOOSE, am throwing her a party the day before she would have had to go back to work, were she not retiring. That means January 5 is the party day. I do this as though we don’t have about 25 holiday bashes between now and then.

And the menu? *shudder* Aunts Laurel and Leisl have planned ever single item to be mixed thoroughly with mayonnaise before serving.

Ground bologna? Check.

Egg salad? Check.

Chicken Salad? Check.

Macaroni Salad? Check.

Chips, Brownies, Carrot Cake, Punch, Coffee? Check-check-check-check-check.

Rob says, “Well at least they can store the stuff outside.” And I agree with him to a certain point, and then I must rail against the fact that we’re having a mayonnaise party.

OK so here’s the deal, I love mayo as a condiment, but not as a food group. If you were over for lunch an I was making us sandwiches, and I spread mayo (or miracle whip) on the bread, and some got on my finger? I would go wash my hands, because YUCK! Except that it’s great on a sandwich.

What kind of sandwich would you like, when you join me for our virtual lunch? Can be hot or cold. I think I’m craving fried egg sandwich right now, with plenty of mayo, but not oozing out the sides.

Do you watch the TV show How I Met Your Mother? There’s an episode you MUST see: Season 1.09, entitled Belly Full of Turkey. (It’s about Mayonnaise.)

That said, I’m not much of a Mayo gal. I’ll eat the THINNEST little spread on a sandwich OCCASIONALLY, but I’m talking SUPER-THIN. I actually scrape the piece of bread with a knife to make sure I don’t get too much. And Miracle Whip? Gag. I can’t stand the stuff. I do love mustard, though.

I’d have to say a chicken bacon ranch sandwich sounds really good about now. Mmmmm
Hope you’re having a good day!

If I’m joining you for a fried egg sandwich, it must have mustard on it, also.

Ever had a fried bologna sandwich? (I’m from Missouri and we pronounced it baloney–whereas it looks as though it should be pronounced ba-log-na. Hey, I just looked up the pronunciation, and indeed baloney is correct–if I’m reading the dictionary right….anyway, a fried baloney :) sandwich is quite special.)

oh my.. I love mayo on pretty much anything. But NEVER had thought to put it on a fried egg sandwich on that I put ketchup. And oh my my my.. mustard on a fried egg sandwich… I don’t even think I could bring myself to even try that. And believe me I try just about anything!

I love a toasted cucumber sandwich with mayo and salt and pepper. or maybe a nice cooked ham with cheese mayo and lettuce.
