Havin’ a Party

My house is uber-clean right now. Every single thing is in its place.

As a favor to my cousin Ashton, I booked a Party Lite party when I was at hers. Well, the day of reconing ALWAYS comes, and I don’t want to have it. I didn’t invite many people and I am loathe to not have time tom myself tomorrow night (a worknight!).

And yet I will have fun. People will come, and will enjoy themselves.

Rob suggested to me today that I should have invited some of the ladies from church but I just couldn’t. I am well loved and respected as the pastor’s wife. I know that at times they “sheild” me from unpleasant things, and I’m fine with that. There are other times that I know WAY too much. But when I get a bigger turnout for the Bible Study I taught (only to women) that the entire adult Sunday School each week, that tells me that they were there to support me as well as to learn about our Lord.

So because of that, I felt that I couldn’t use my influence to hawk candles, or anything else. I wasn’t any good as a Mary Kay consultant (back 10 years ago when I did that) because I never put people on the spot and demanded that they give me names of people who might want to have a facial.

*sigh*

So if the party bombs tomorrow, I will still have a house that’s clean and all of my laundry done, and a ton of yummy-licious treats that didn’t take me long to make.

I went to a Pampered Chef party last week and I think I sort of decided to have my own party. I’m already dreading it. I hate these types of things, but I always get sucked in! LOL!

    Have fun!

Oh I love Party lite parties :) I’ve been to two of them. Candles are my downfall :)

    I hope you have fun!

i think its good to NOT use your church contacts for business.
a while back, Amway swept through here, and a lot of people got talked out of $125 and now have lost friends, or lost a little piece of themselves for behaving the way they did.

not sure what will motivate me to clean.
i still have 18 inches of snow to CLEAN off my driveway. ugghh

Oh, I have to laugh. After reading Suzy’s blog about food and gatherings…and here you are not expecting a big crowd and you are going to have yummy food! And your house will be clean, that is always nice. Oh, and I wasn’t good at the Mary Kay thing either, for the same reason. :)

I totally know what you mean about not inviting church friends. My husband was a senior pastor for 7 years and I can remember having a few different parties and wondering what to do about inviting church people. I never did and I was glad I kept them out for the same reasons you listed. I do remember one time when a few people thought I had left them out of a party. But then realized that no church friends came. Sometimes either way you get in trouble!

I like your bottom line - a clean house, the laundry done and the best part - the treats. We sometimes have folks over for double reasons - we enjoy the company and it motivates us to clean and fix up the place. :) ec

I hope your party went well. I like Party lite candles, especially the tealights.
