Livin’ on Love
Some time ago, I wrote about some friends, the Mag Family, whose 19-year old suffered a brain injury and is completely paralyzed and cannot even communicate… yet. Well, last night Rob and I packed up our old double bed and drove to their home and exchanged our bed for their red (!) bunk beds. Our intention was to used the bunks for foster kiddos, but will that actually happen? Who knows?
The Mag family lives in a beautiful home about 40 minutes from here, somewhat in a rural area. They have so many friends and family who help out with day-to-day care and with extra things, like Rob and I did. The entire house anf family just has this peace about it and throughout it.
I didn’t realize that until we were almost home and stopped at a traffic light. Rob looked over at me and said, “You’re so beautiful,” almost as though this was the first time he noticed, except that he tells me several times per day. He said it again, two more times, and said, “Even though we’re bringing home bunk beds, I feel like we’re getting ready to bring home babies.” I told him that babies need cribs and he said he realized that.
But still, we both agreed that this seems like foolishness to all the world (and if you see those RED bunks in my lavender and yellow room you’ll agree!), but we know in our hearts it’s a God thing.
And the whole evening, this song was playing in my head by Alan Jackson:
Livin’ on Love
Two young people without a thing
Say some vows and spread their wings
Settle down with just what they need
Livin on loveShe dont care ’bout whats in style
She just likes the wayhe smiles
It takes more than marble and tile
Livin on loveLivin on love, buyin on time
Without somebody nothing aint worth a dime
Just like an old fashioned story book rhyme
Livin on love
It sounds simple thats what you’re thinkin’
But love can walk through fire without blinkin’
It doesnt take much when you get enough
Livin’ on loveTwo old people without a thing
Children gone but still they sing
Side by side in that front porch swing
Livin on love
He cant see anymore
And she can barely sweep the floor
Hand in hand they’ll walk through that door
Just livin on loveLivin on love, buyin on time
Without somebody nothing aint worth a dime
Just like an old fashioned story book rhyme
Livin on love
It sounds simple thats what you’re thinkin’
But love can walk through fire without blinkin’
It doesnt take much when you get enough
Livin’ on love
No it doesnt take much when you get enough
Livin’ on love
