Happy Easter

I’m still in the very early chapters of “Little Women”, by Loiusa May Alcott. Someone said that their favorite part of the book was “marmee’s wisdom” and I didn’t know what they meant at that point. Now I do.

When Marmee was almost finished talking to her daughter about keeping her temper, they began talking about Father, who’d been gone at war for some time.

“My child, the troubles and temptations of your life are beginning and may be many, but you can overcome and outlive them all if you learn to feel the strength and tenderness of your Heavenly Father as you do that of your earthly one.  The more you love and trust Him, the nearer you will feel to Him, and the less you will depend on human power and wisdom.  His love and care never tire or change, can never be taken from you, but may become the source of lifelong peace, happiness, and strength.  Believe this heartily, and go to God with all your little cares, and hopes,  and sins, and sorrows, as freely and confidingly as you come to your mother.”

Today shall indeed be a busy day. We’ve church, then breakfast, then church, then birthday festivities for Rob at my folks’ home. I pray that the Lord will give us the strength and good temper to get through our day, and somehow find time so we may take a nice long nap.

Happy Easter, all!
