Knowledge

Always be my baby!I have been keeping quiet here for a bit. It’s intentional. I am “pondering things in my heart” as it were, and  it makes me somewhat reluctant to share happenings on my blog. Usually, once I’ve written about something, it leaves my head and I stop mulling it over. I don’t want to stop mulling this time, because it’s more important than just a bad day at work or where to go on vacation. (Sorry, not going to write about IT yet. No worries!)

Hmmm… after I wrote that, Work called because they were having problems with my department. I went in for an hour and got stupid photo chemicals all over me and had to deal with irate customers and frustrated co-workers and in the end, I believe we won’t have any production tomorrow because one of the three of us (who were working on the problem tonight) contaminated the chemicals. Oh joy.

After an entire afternoon of ripping the guts out of the machine and fixing problems and putting it all back together again, it’s just completely screwed up and my big fret is this: I know that my boss is put out completely with spending money on my department because it doesn’t really bring that many customers into the store. Whether she means to or not, she makes me feel like she thinks I’m to blame for poor production or for problems with the machine.

I am only human.

But one good thing did come out of my fixing that machine all day… I was stressing because I hadn’t ever taken so many pieces apart in the printing area before; there were screws and parts strewn behind my entire counter area. As soon as I realized that I found the paper-jam, I was praising God. There I sat on my knees on the floor, sweating, and elbow-deep into a mass of wires and rollers. And it clicked in my head that I was on the right track and I just hung my head for a sec and prayed to God, thanking Him for giving me the knowledge of mechanical things.

I love it when I show the Hollister Family characteristic of being uber-mechanical. My dad will be so proud when I tell him!

OH! Before I forget to mention, that pic is of Kody and me. Rob took it last night! He’s seriously the best dog I’ve ever had.
Tell me about the best dog you ever had! Please!

I’ve only had two dogs in my life. Well maybe three.

My first dog Candy. She was a mutt. She was cute and she was the best behaved dog ever. My parents got her just before I was born. She was black with a little gray/white on the neck. She had the best puppy dog eyes in the world. She use to let me and my brother climb on her and play all the time. She was very protective of us, and was always looking out for us. One day there was an insane storm and while normally she’d be hiding shaking under a table in the basement this time she was upstairs barking at us and running towards the stairs, barking and running. She really wanted us to go down there. Turned out there was a tornado not 5 minutes away from us. We had her until I was a teenager. I loved her so much.

Our other dog we got when I was about 5 years old. Her name was Dutchess. A purebred yellow lab. She was a full grown puppy when we got her. she was fun and very well behaved and often quite silly. She would play fetch, she’d do tricks we taught her and she loved to cuddle. Mostly with my brother though. She was an excelent friend. My dad would take her hunting with them, one time when my dad got a duck, she went out into the water, got the duck headed back, saw the decoy and dropped the duck and went for the decoy. HAHA! Oh I loved her so much. We had her until I was 18 years old or so when we had to put her down. Adam actually was brave enough to take her into the vet for us. Ugh that was a hard day.

We also had Princess. She was my grandparents dog when we moved in she became our dog too. She was a little wee shi tzu. She got old and we had to put her down. This was when I was pregnant with Connor so only about 7 years ago.

I miss them sooooo much, and it kills me that my children aren’t growing up with a pup. They’re just wonderful

I begged my parents for a dog most of my life. When I was in Jr. High I finally weaseled a puppy out of my aunt. She was the biggest puff of black fur you’ve ever seen! So snuggly. I only had Samantha for about 9 months or so. That summer when we went on vacation, she was staying with my aunt, got tangled up in her chord and died of heat exhaustion because she couldn’t get to the shade or water. I was devistated.
Another aunt’s dog was pregnant and she gave me one of the puppies to help me get over my first little fluff ball. That second puppy (my aunt named him Sam for me) was crazy. He lived with my parents until he was 14 or so (long after I moved away), he never grew up mentally, he was a puppy the day he died. I honestly think he had brain damage or something, I’m not just being mean, something was wrong with him. He was sweet, but OH SO Hyper! Never settled down!
We’ve been in the “dog discussions” here at our home for a while now. The kids would LOVE a puppy, and hubby is coming around slowly to the idea, as long as he can get a hunting dog. One of his friends raises English cockers and trains them as hunting dogs. However, we have a very small yard, so there are no serious plans right now…
I’m more of a cat person myself. I got my first cat when I was 3, and he lived until I was 16…I thought I’d die when he did. We have a cat now, he is getting older and limps more now than he used to, I think his hips are starting to bother him. Need to get him to the vet to find out what’s going on. I love the snuggles and attention that he gives me. He even crawls in bed, under the covers, and snuggles by my tummy or legs (until he gets too hot and then he crawls up and sticks his head out…how cute is that??!!)
I know you asked about dogs…sorry I hijacked you blog! :o)

Sorry you had a rough day at work, however…good for you and the mechanical understanding! I’d have NO CLUE!

Keep on pondering my friend, and we’ll be here to hear all about it when you are ready to share.

    Blessings-Andie

I hope things get better, Jay! I am praying for you!

My favorite dog is our Lhasa Apso, Misty. I call her my canine daughter, and when my human daughter Jennifer asks Misty, “Where’s your mama?”, Misty will look at me. Misty is very playful too, and has lots of toys that get strewn around the house, just as though she was a little kid. If you give her a belly rub or feed her table food, you’ll be her friend for life. Her little poochie personality just makes life in our household more fun.

We have had 2 shepherds, a rott and now our black lab. We have loved them all, but our most favorite was our rott, rocky. He was so smart it was uncanny. I’ll never forget the evening that I was out pulling weeds in the garden and he came up next to me and started pulling them out, too, with his teeth. It was so funny. But then again, that same dog kept a beautiful lavendar colored rose bush from thriving because he kept digging it up till the bush just finally gave up the ghost.

    i still miss “chip”
he looked all border collie but had a German shepherd mom
so he was smart, and a runner/traveler.
he was a great friend a wonderful companion during my divorce years and such a faithful dog.
    I could never replace him.
