Jay - me, same church, different day. Same seriousness.

Our parents taught us that our family was sacred. They taught us that marriages were sacred, and you were about to enter into one. You would never be the same again.

I remember that 1) On your wedding day, I came home and cried because I realized that night you'd never come back again. No more midnight Othello games and no going out for a midnight burger run and SNL together on a lonely Saturday Night.

2) I felt just as scared and nervous on my wedding day. When I do it again, I'll smile more. Because I've lived a lot and now I know that the unknown isn't quite so bad.

Love you bibba.

When I read your post, it brought back to mind a poem I had the kids memorize when they were little called Try Smiling.

Try Smiling
By Author Unknown

When the weather suits you not,
Try smiling.
When your coffee isn't hot,
Try smiling.
When your neighbors don't do right,
Or your relatives all fight,
Sure 'tis hared, but then you might
Try smiling.

Doesn't change the things, of course-
Just smiling.
But it cannot make them worse-
Just smiling.
And it seems to help your case,
Brightens up a gloomy place,
Then, it sort o' rests your face-
Just smiling.

It's not always easy to do, but if we can keep smiling and look for the blessings, they are there. :-)

Thanks for this post.

I wish we had a video - we only had photos and they were in black and white. But I still have the Spice with me and that's a good thing. :) ec

This post just reminded me...a few years back I decided that if I fell into a real funky attitude, that I would stand in front of the mirror and make crazy faces. And you know what? It works! Just willing yourself to have a positive attitude goes a long way. It has saved me many times over from ruining hours upon hours by staying in a grumpy mood.

I'm glad you are back!
