Brother James’ Air

What a week.
Seven days ago, we began our Foster Parent training. We learned somewhere along the way that our other family-making option is doubtful. We did lots of talking and praying and lots of crying. It’s just too much stress to get hopes up and then wait. I’m glad things are how they are now… [...]

Needing Her Fix
This morning, we braved the snowy roads and freezing temps to travel to the home of my parents. It’s so cozy and inviting there. I fixed the email program on their computer, and then we proceeded on to my Grandma’s house.
Grandma’s computer needed fixing too, and she’s been in poor health this last [...]

I got my haircut yesterday and playing on the XM radio at the salon was a plethora of Michael Jackson hits. I related to my stylist (at 25, nearly 10 whole years younger than me!) about the time in 5th grade that BFF Terri and I sat behind the school with her actual Old School [...]

Everything

My dear friend Jen sent this to me last week and I didn’t have time to watch it until today. Now I’m sitting here in complete awe and wonder. It’s so true. That’s all I’m saying.

OK and I’m crying, too.
Love you all.
Merry Christmas!

Singing Jayleigh

I decided back in September that I’d sing and play a song for Christmas at Church. Apparently I posted O Come O Come Emmanuel a year ago in anticipation of Christmas. And I’m reposting this year, with the decided difference that it’s ME playing and singing.
It’s rough, and I was in my Pajamas, so please [...]

Take My Hand

I just downloaded this song by the Kry. (feel free to start the video while you read the rest of the entry)
I have been feeling so unsure lately. I haven’t been reading blogs and I haven’t been posting. I’m trying to get to everyone’s blog, but just not making it so well.
We had out of [...]

My twin sister Dotty sent this article to me today. Yikes. This guy’s iPod Nano supposedly burst into flames while in his pants. What Dotty doesn’t know, though, is that when I am doing housework, I usually have my iPod right like this:

Click the photo to see what Charlie called “Great Boobs of Fire!”
Maybe I [...]

Not Who I Was

I had an epiphany last night. I had been playing my piano for a long time and was working on a new hymn. I was so moved by the words and just laid my head on the piano and cried. I’m so thankful that I am not the same person as I was at my lowest.

I can remember the day I told Rob, when he came home from work, that I was leaving him if things didn’t change. He was away from home around 65 hours a week at a job that took him so far away from me physically and mentally. He was so into his work, and we [...]

Sakura

This is the song I am learning to play. It is called “Cherry Blossoms” or “Sakura.” It’s a Japanese folk song and it’s one of my favorites so far.The melody is haunting and reminds Rob and me very much of the end of a movie where almost everyone dies… like Road to Perdition, or something.
The following [...]

Laughing at Sad Songs

I used to be a Sad Song fan. I loved all kinds, especially this one by Bonnie Raitt:

I still love this song, but I don’t feel the need to sing it and feel it always. Also this one by Phil Collins:

This morning I was listening to podcasts from a few weeks ago on This American [...]

Wish My Sister George…

Anyone remember on Bugs Bunny cartoons when he’d sit down at the piano and say with a cheesy grin, “I wish my brother George was here”?
Whenever Rob captures me playing piano, I always say that line, only this time he only caught the end of it. This is quite a rusty rendition of “not my [...]

Wayfaring Stranger

I am learning this song on the piano. Personally, I like the Eva Cassidy version, but this one’s good too.
